Support the Project

B ister Schools is a Benjamin Franklin House programme linking schools in London with their counterparts in the United States.

Requiring around six hours of class time over a period of six weeks, Sister Schools allows children to participate in a fun and collaborative curriculum based on the amazing life of Benjamin Franklin – particularly his years in London and his efforts to strengthen Anglo-American relations.  Themes include our shared heritage, citizenship, and science and innovation.

To support participating teachers, we have a dedicated Sister Schools portal where articles, drawings, photographs, and videos produced by partner schools are posted and shared.

Since the first school pairings took place in Spring 2011, over 700 students from London, New York, Philadelphia and Boston have taken part. Recently, Weston Park Primary School from Haringey, London paired with PS 255 in Brooklyn, New York

Sister Schools is made possible with the support of the New York Historical Society and Britain’s Big Lottery Fund.

If you are interested in learning more about Sister Schools, please contact Stephen Wilson, Benjamin Franklin House Education Manager.
