he ethos of the Student Science Centre is that scientific discovery should be accessible to all. Franklin remained an amateur with no formal training though he was a pioneer of the scientific method. A key objective of the House’s education programme is to increase children’s self esteem through scientific experimentation, giving them the confidence to question and investigate the world around them. To bring this message to as many children as possible we have developed our annual Benjamin Franklin Science Fair.

Participants from inner city schools take part in a number of Franklin-related experiments and watch period demonstrations. The feedback from teachers and children is consistently positive.
